Property Deed
Property Deed
A deed is the document that transfers title (ownership) of real estate to another person. It contains the names of the old owner (grantor) and new owner (grantee) and a legal description of the property, and is signed by the person transferring the property (grantor). You can’t transfer real estate without having something in writing, which is almost always a deed. To complete the transfer the deed must be recorded in the office of the County Recorder or Recorder of Deeds.
